Conferences

Both the IEEE student branch and the EET progran have been actively involved in making sure EET students participate in other activities that will enhance their academic experience and mold their professional career. These activities include field trips, professional conferences, hands-on experience and professional opportunities as described below.

Field Trips are organized frequently, so that students can correlate the classroom information to the real word. For example, students have visited Jabil Electronics, Tallahassee Utility, AT&T, Rockwell Automation, etc. We believe these field trips are an essential part of students’ learning.

Professional Conferences are organized every semester. These conferences offer our students the opportunity to network with company representatives, students and professionals. It is also a pathway to summer internships and full time employment as most conferences have a job fair event. We participate in the following conferences:

 Fall Semester

  1.  Great Minds in STEM Conference
  2. Women of Color STEM Conference

Spring Semester

  1. Black Engineers of the Year Award Conference
  2. IEEE Southeast Conference
Hands-on Experiences that closely relates to industry projects are extremely important. The branch is the  organizer of  the IEEE robot competition where EET students must design a robot given certain constraints and then compete during the southeast conference. I

The  IEEE FAMU Student Branch also worked with the Green Coalition at FAMU to give some of our students the opportunity to design and build a solar charging station.

Professional Opportunities are organized to provide students with growth opportunities. The branch have taken students to the IEEE leadership trainings, invited professionals from industry to interact with the students.
